Moscow: There is no alternative to cooperation between Moscow and the European Union, Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov said on Wednesday, adding that Moscow was not to blame for strains in relations with Brussels over the Ukraine crisis.

"The current negative trend in global affairs is not our choice," Lavrov told the Russian Parliament. "There is no real alternative to a mutually-beneficial and equal cooperation between Russia and the European Union, too much binds us together."
