Moscow: Russia on Thursday said it will back
the current UN Secretary General Ban Ki-moon for a second term
at today`s voting in the UN Security Council.
"We will also hold this stance during discussions
of this issue next week at the UN General Assembly," Russian
Foreign Ministry spokesman Alexander Lukashevich said.

General Assembly on the recommendations of the UN SC and
support of five veto-wielding nations is crucial for this.
France and China, also permanent members of the UN
SC like Russia have already voiced their support for Ban`s
candidacy, whose term of office expires on December 31 this
