Sukhumi: Russia is planning to build a military base in Abkhazia with the latest utilities and a good encampment, according to an official.
"The Abkhazian side has provided a very good area for this base but living here in tents for a whole year is too much of a good thing," Sergei Stepashin, chairman, Auditing Chamber said.
"It's necessary to build here shortly a normal base with a good permanent housing compound and good houses for officers," Stepashin added.
"After Russia and Abkhazia sign an agreement on defence cooperation, status of this base will be defined," he said.
Calling Abkhazia's as one of the most beautiful places in the Caucasus the chairman added, "We've come here to stay and we'll not move anywhere."
