Moscow: Russia on Tuesday expressed regret over Ukraine`s decision to renew a military operation against separatists and urged its foreign partners to stop using the ex-Soviet country as a pawn in geopolitical games.
Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko`s last-minute decision not to extend a ceasefire after consultations with Russia, France and Germany "causes deep regret," the foreign ministry said, blaming unidentified outside forces for scuppering the peace talks.
"We once again urge (partners) to stop using Ukraine as a bargaining chip in geopolitical games," it said, noting that calls to clamp down on protests with force were "criminal".
