Russia warns citizens not to travel to Syria

The warning came against the background of increasingly violence in the country which has claimed the lives of over 12,000 people, according to UN estimates

Moscow: Russia on Thursday warned its citizens not to travel to Syria.

Foreign Ministry spokesman Alexander Lukashevich said: "The Russian Foreign Ministry again reiterates its recommendation to Russian citizens not to travel to Syria either for tourism, or in general."

The warning came against the background of increasingly violence in the country which has claimed the lives of over 12,000 people, according to UN estimates.
