Russian court sentences Ukraine pilot Savchenko to 22 years in prison

A Russian court on Tuesday sentenced Ukrainian pilot Nadiya Savchenko to 22 years behind bars after she was found guilty of involvement in the killing of two journalists in eastern Ukraine.

Moscow: A Russian court on Tuesday sentenced Ukrainian pilot Nadiya Savchenko to 22 years behind bars after she was found guilty of involvement in the killing of two journalists in eastern Ukraine.

The judge said the court`s "final punishment" for Savchenko was 22 years in prison, concluding a trial that has been slammed by the West and Kiev as politically motivated.
