The woman jumped into a river with four other people in an apparent group suicide attempt.
Seoul: A South Korean woman was rescued
on Sunday after jumping into a river with four other people in an
apparent group suicide attempt, police said.
The 24-year-old woman was found floating unconscious in
the Bukhan River near the capital Seoul by an area resident
who rescued her, police said.
The woman told police she jumped off a bridge Sunday
morning with another woman and three men she met on the
Internet, said the police, adding a search was underway to
find the four others.
The five turned to the river after a failed suicide
attempt yesterday at a nearby motel room, a police detective
on the case said.
South Korea with heavy stress from its highly competitive
educational environment and job market taking a lethal toll.
The country has one of the world`s highest suicide rates.
