Kuala Lumpur: US agencies will arrive in Kuala Lumpur on Monday to help trace the missing Malaysian plane that disappeared while travelling to Beijing with 239 people on board on Saturday, a news agency reported.
The US agencies will arrive even as Vietnamese Navy planes have reportedly found debris, suspected to the one of the plane’s door, in the sea off south Vietnam coast where oil slicks were earlier found. Further investigation will take place on Monday as night light was not conducive for the search operation.
While the authorities suspect that the debris could be from the missing plane, they are tight-lipped about it until the search operation is over.
The search operation intensified on Sunday with over 40 ships and 22 planes looking for the missing plane. Even US and China sent warships to add to the search operation.
Possibility about the plane turning back is also suspected before it vanished completely from the radar.
"There is a distinct possibility the airplane did a turn-back, deviating from the course," said General Rodzali Daud, the Malaysian Air Force chief.
"One of the possibilities is that it was returning to Kuala Lumpur," he added.
However, Malaysian Airlines CEO Ahmad Jauhari Yahya said that had the plane turned back, it would have set off alarm bells.
The investigators are also probing the terror angle after reports of two people travelling on fake passport surfaced.
Meanwhile on late Saturday, the authorities in Vietnam reported the finding of two oil slicks stretching between six and nine miles, off Vietnam coast, but it has not yet been confirmed if the oil slicks are from the fuel tankers of the missing plane.
