Beijing: A senior official of the
Communist Party has been detained in China`s southern
industrial powerhouse Guangdong Province for questioning in
connection with a corruption case.
The Provincial People`s Procuratorate started
questioning Luo Yinguo, 57, Communist Party chief in the city
of Maoming, state run Xinhua said in a brief report.
The detention of Luo follows the arrest last year of
the former mayor of the Guangdong city of Shenzhen Xu Zhiyong,
who was accused of taking huge bribes, exploiting his position
to benefit family members.
Communist Party of China has made crackdown against
corruption a major policy initiative. Several top officials
have been indicted last year, some even given suspended death
