Seven killed, 12 injured in China coal mine explosion

At least seven people were killed and 12 others injured when an explosion ripped through a coal mine in southwest China`s Yunnan province.

Beijing: At least seven people were killed
and 12 others injured on Thursday when an explosion ripped through a
coal mine in southwest China`s Yunnan province.

The blast occurred at a pit of Maanshan coal mine in Luxi
county, the region`s publicity department said.

A total of 29 miners were working underground at the
time of the explosion. Ten managed to escape without injuries
while seven died of suffocation, the official Xinhua news
agency reported.

The 12 injured were sent to the Luxi County People`s
Hospital.
