Seven killed, 16 missing in coal mine accident in China

Seven workers were killed and 16 others went missing after a coal mine accident in southwest China on Tuesday.

Beijing: Seven workers were killed and 16 others went missing after a coal mine accident in southwest China on Tuesday.

The accident happened at the Yanshitai Coal Mine in the Wansheng District, according to the city`s safety inspection authority, which said it was a "gas incident".
A total of 28 miners were working down the shaft at the time of the accident.
Five of them managed to escaped, state-run Xinhua news agency reported.

In another incident, all five miners trapped in a flooded coal mine in north China`s Hebei Province have been rescued.
The accident happened in a shaft in Xiandewang coal mine in Xingtai City yesterday when 14 miners were working underground.

One was killed and eight managed to escape while the other five were trapped.
