Veracruz: Seven workers building an oil platform in Mexico died when an elevator carrying them fell from a height of 30 metres, an official said.
The accident happened yesterday in Veracruz state on the Gulf of Mexico. Five of the workers died on the spot and two later in a hospital, said Ricardo Maza, a state civil protection official.
A third worker is in serious condition.
The accident happened on the grounds of a private company that builds offshore oil platforms for the state-owned company Pemex.
