Paris: Police say an armed man has robbed the famed Parisian jeweller Chopard, making off with gems worth around 1 million euros (USD 1.1 million).
Friday's robbery took place across the street from the Elysee Palace, which is heavily guarded around the clock. Police say no one was injured in the robbery.
Paris, with a wealth of fine jewellery stores catering to tourists and locals alike, is routinely struck by armed robbers. But thefts so close to the presidential palace in one of the city's ritziest neighborhoods are relatively rare.
