Spy watch abuse Indian-origin doctor struck off in UK

An Indian-origin doctor jailed for 12 years for sexually abusing his female patients and recording it using a secret camera inside his wristwatch has been struck off the medical register in Britain.

London: An Indian-origin doctor jailed for 12 years for sexually abusing his female patients and recording it using a secret camera inside his wristwatch has been struck off the medical register in Britain.

Davinder Jeet Bains had admitted 39 sex offences at Swindon Crown Court while he worked as a general practitioner at a medical practice in Royal Wootton Bassett in south-west England.

The 45-year-old will now never be able to practise medicine after a Medical Practitioners Tribunal Service (MTPS) panel ruled him as unfit.

Bains, who was placed on the sex offenders register for an indefinite period following his conviction in May, was not present at the hearing in Manchester.

Panel chairperson David Kyle said Bains` actions were a "gross abuse" of trust and of his position as a doctor.

"The panel has determined that erasure is the only means of protecting patients and maintaining public confidence in the profession," he added.

The MTPS said an immediate order of suspension has been imposed. Bains` activities were uncovered after a complaint from a woman who thought she had been filmed.

Police raided his Tinkers Lane Surgery, where they found the wristwatch and later also found more than 360 video clips.
Bains had qualified as a doctor from Mangalore University in 1993 and became a GP in 2007 and had been practicing in the UK since.
He is free to apply to be restored in the future if he can prove he is fit to practise.
