Steven Sotloff beheaded: I'm back Obama, says British-accented IS jihadist in video

Within days after US journalist James Foley was beheaded by the ISIS, a video showing beheading of another American journalist Steven Sotlof has been released, as per reports on Tuesday.

Washington: In what the US State Department called a “sickening act”, the Islamic State extremists released a fresh video purportedly showing the beheading of another American journalist Steven Sotloff.

With the latest video, the ISIS seems to be have made it clear to the US that its threats are not hollow warnings as the slain journalist in this video is the same man whom the extremists had threatened to kill in an August 19 video showing James Foley's execution.

However, the US kept on the strikes targeting the Islamic State terrorists in Iraq, with the US Central Command saying that 16 ISIL armed vehicles, near the Mosul Dam were damaged in the latest strike.

Also, US President Barack Obama has ordered another 350 US troops to Baghdad to protect American diplomatic facilities and staff, reported the AFP.

The move comes after the video was released by the ISIS, in which the executioner, who speaks in British accent, is apparently the same who appeared in James Foley beheading video, spouting threats to US President Obama and threatening to kill Steven Sotloff.

The video that comes over a fortnight after James Foley beheading video, seems to have been taken in similar surroundings.

In the grisly video, the British-accented IS man is seen alongside Steven Sotloff, who is kneeling and is in orange jumpsuit, just like James Foley was.

In what appears to be a stoic delivery of a pre-written statement, the US journalist, with his hands tied behind his back, says that he is 'paying the price' for US intervention in Syria.

“Obama, your foreign policy of intervention in Iraq was supposed to be for the preservation of American lives and interests. So why is it that I am having to pay the price of your interference with my life? Am I not an American citizen?” Sotloff says.

Then the British-accented executioner reiterates his threat to Obama, condemning US strikes in Iraq and then beheads the journalist.

"I'm back, Obama, and I'm back because of your arrogant foreign policy towards the Islamic State, because of your insistence on continuing your bombings and ... on Mosul Dam, despite our serious warnings," says the IS extremist.

"So just as your missiles continue to strike our people, our knife will continue to strike the necks of your people," he threatened.

In a reference pointed mainly at Britain, the extremist further warns other governments to back off and not enter “this evil alliance of America against the Islamic State”.

The IS terrorist then goes on to threaten to kill a British hostage David Haines.

David Haines is said to be an ex-British soldier who served for aid organisations.

Meanwhile, commenting on the murder of Steven Sotloff, US State Department Spokesperson Jen Psaki

said that if the video was genuine, “we are sickened by this brutal act”.

Paying condolences to Sotloff's kins, she added that “our hearts goes out to the family”.

Meanwhile, UK Prime Minister David Cameron took to Twitter to condemn the killing which comes just a day after he outlined a slew of anti-terror measutres aimed at curbing the radicalisation of British citizens. Some 500 British citizens have reportedly fled to Iraq and Syria to fight alongside the IS jihadists.

31-year-old Sotloff was a freelance journalist who went missing in Syria in 2013. On his twitter account, he described himself as a stand-up philosopher from Miami and his last tweet is dated Aug 2, 2013.
