Suicide bomber dies in Russia`s restive south
A suicide bomber blew himself up near a Special Forces police base in Russia`s restive North Caucasus.

bomber blew himself up near a Special Forces police base in
Russia`s restive North Caucasus, but caused no other deaths or
Police spokesman Vyacheslav Gasanov says the bomber
detonated an explosives belt about 150 meters (yards) from a
trailer housing OMON police late Saturday after failing to
penetrate the base in Kizlyar, a town in Dagestan.
The bomber also was carrying two grenades and a
Kalashnikov automatic rifle. The dead bomber was identified as
30-year-old Abdulkadyr Aliyev. Dagestan and other North
Caucasus republics have been destabilized by an Islamic
insurgency that has spread following two separatist wars in
Dagestan has emerged as the militants` main base, and
they regularly attack police and other authorities.
