Suspect charged in Beijing airport blast
A Beijing district procuratorate filed charges against a man suspected of causing an explosion in the Beijing Capital International Airport.
Beijing: A Beijing district procuratorate on Thursday filed charges against a man suspected of causing an explosion in the Beijing Capital International Airport.
The wheelchair-bound man, identified as Ji Zhongxing from east China`s Shandong Province, set off a homemade explosive device outside the airport`s Terminal 3 arrivals exit on July 20, according to the Beijing Chaoyang District People`s Procuratorate.
Ji himself suffered arm injuries and a police officer suffered non-serious injuries in the explosion.
Ji has been in custody since July 21.
According to the country`s criminal law, anyone who causes explosion or uses other dangerous means to endanger public security without causing serious consequences shall be sentenced to a fixed-term imprisonment of no less than three years but no more than ten years.
