Kano: A car with two passengers rammed into a truck as it unloaded fuel at a petrol station in north Nigeria`s biggest city on Friday, in a suspected suicide attack, a witness and residents said.

Witness Yusuf Mamuda told AFP that the blast happened at about 7:30 pm (1830 GMT) at the Nagarshiku filling station in the Hotoro area of Kano, causing a fire that engulfed the facility and a nearby bus station.

"There was a huge blast as the truck exploded and volleys of fire flew in all directions," he said. There was no immediate indication of casualties but residents said it was unlikely anyone at the petrol station survived.
