Kuala Lumpur: A 33-year-old woman who was eight months pregnant died of the Influenza A(H1N1) virus, making the toll 68. Her unborn baby did not survive either, a media report said.

Malaysia on Thursday reported 569 Influenza A(H1N1) cases, the highest in a day.

Health Minister Liow Tiong Lai said the woman was admitted to a private hospital in Johor Baru on August 08 after developing fever and cough for a day.

Liow said that the number of cases did not reflect the true situation as it only showed cases that were confirmed by laboratory tests and those that were admitted to hospitals.

The World Health Organisation has stated that for every confirmed case, there are 20 other undetected cases in the community.
