Syria opposes any foreign intervention in Libya

Syria said foreign interference would violate Libya`s sovereignty.

Damascus: Syria on Thursday said it is against any
foreign intervention in Libya.

The Syrian Foreign Ministry statement comes as Western
countries debate whether to protect the rebels from Libyan
leader Moammar Gaddafi`s air force by putting a no-fly zone
over some or all of the country.

The statement said foreign interference "is considered a
violation of Libya`s sovereignty, independence and territorial
unity."

Syria has close relations with Libya. Damascus has been
relatively quiet regarding uprisings in Tunisia, Egypt and
Libya and has prevented demonstrations near those countries`
embassies in Syria.
