The Syrian government forces bombarded Aleppo with bombs on Sunday killing at least 83 people and injuring 50 others, the opposition group has said.

Scores of people were killed when helicopters dropped barrel bombs on 12 areas in Aleppo where the residents support the rebels, as per a CNN news report stated.

At least 28 children were killed in the attack, activists have said in news reports.

Over 100,000 people have been killed and millions have fled the war-torn country in the clashes between the Syrian government and rebels since 2011.
