Beijing: At least ten people were killed
on Thursday in a hotel fire in China due to smoke inhalation as
windows of the building were shut fast for the winter.
The fire ripped through the small Xinawan Hotel, in
Yuelu District of provincial capital Changsha in Hunan
Province, killing six at the scene and injuring eight others.
Four of the eight injured died after they were rushed
to hospital, and the other four are in stable condition,
official media reports here said.
Most of the victims died of smoke inhalation as hotel
windows were shut fast for the winter. The fire was
extinguished later and about 50 people were evacuated,
according to the fire brigade.
