Moscow: Ten suspects in a bombing that
killed 28 people aboard a Russian passenger train in November
have been brought to Moscow after being captured in a raid
last week, Russian media reported on Wednesday.
Security services detained the 10 in Russia's southern
region of Ingushetia, then flew them to Moscow, where
investigators declared them suspects in the train bombing, the
Kommersant daily reported.
One suspect, Zelimkhan Aushev, fell under suspicion
because investigators found detonators in his house that
matched those used in the November attack on the Nevsky
Express train, Kommersant reported, citing unnamed officials.
Nine other suspects, all of them members of a family with
the surname Kartoyev, were detained in the March 2 raid in the
village of Ekazhevo and brought to Moscow along with Aushev,
Kommersant reported.
A Moscow court ruled the 10 suspects will remain in
custody pending the investigation, Russian news agencies
reported on Wednesday.
"The court sanctioned the arrest of Zelimkhan Aushev and
nine people with the surname Kartoyev," Moscow city court
spokeswoman Anna Usacheva told the Interfax news agency.
A key leader of Russia's Islamist insurgency, Alexander
Tikhomirov, known by the nom de guerre Said Buryatsky, was
killed in the March 2 raid along with seven other rebels,
according to the FSB security service.
The FSB said over the weekend that one of the slain
rebels, Tukhan Kartoyev, was the leader of a group that had
carried out over a dozen terrorist attacks including the
November train bombing.
