Beirut: Seems like it`s not only you and me who are stuck to the Twitter for every minute detail.
The social media site has found a new fan in none other than the dangerous Islamic extremists belonging to jihadist outfit - Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant, which is an al Qaeda offshoot.
However instead of thanking the Twitter`s founders like Jack Dorsey and Noah Glass, the jihadists are thanking the Almighty for the social networking site that keeps them updated and gives them a good platform to advertise their victories, like the takeover of Mosul in Iraq recently.
One of the reasons why the militants are thankful to Allah for Twitter is that no more they have to remain tuned to other news media like the BBC, al-Arabia, etc.
“Praise be to Allah, who gave Twitter to the mujahideen so that they may share their joys and not have to listen to the BBC, al-Arabia, Al-Jazeera,” the Telegraph cited a tweet on an ISIS affiliate`s Twitter account in Arabic.
The report adds that the tweet posted from a Twitter profile named “Soldiers of Iraq and the Levant” sparked enthusiastic reactions from several other jihadists who retweeted the message “thanking Allah”.
The terrorists have often used their Twitter accounts to claim responsibilities for the attacks carried out by them, or spread grisly videos like that of public executions.
ISIS, which yesterday took over the strategic town of Mosul in Iraq, also used Twitter to post videos of fighting.
Earlier, in another instance of militants` sophisticated use of social media, Somali militant group Al Shabaab, live-tweeted the deadly assault on Kenya`s Westgate mall.
