Tibetan nun sets herself on fire in west China Beijing: An overseas activist group says an 18-year-old Tibetan nun has set herself on fire in western China to protest Beijing's handling of its vast Tibetan regions. It's the latest in a series of self-immolations by Tibetan nuns, monks and ordinary people.

Free Tibet said in a statement on Sunday that the nun was believed to have survived. It said the young woman, identified as Tenzin Choezin, was a nun at the Mamae Nunnery in Sichuan province's Aba prefecture.

More than a dozen monks, nuns and ordinary Tibetans have set themselves on fire over the past year.

Free Tibet says at least 11 died from their injuries.

Some but not all of the incidents have been confirmed by Chinese state media.
