Kathmandu: A 40-year-old American woman was allegedly gang-raped by four Nepalese men in a hotel here, police said today.
The victim, who has been living in Nepal on a business visa for more than a year, was attacked on June 14 at a hotel in Thamel, the tourist hub of Kathmandu, a senior police officer said.
"The woman had alleged that the four men had taken her to a hotel room and raped her after they drank alcohol," said Deputy Superintendent of Police Arjun Chand Thakuri.
"Next day when she woke up she realised that she had been raped," the senior police officer said.
Two of the four suspects have been arrested and the police is hunting the two others, he added.
However, the arrested men have denied the allegations, he said.
"If found guilty, we will take legal action against them."
