Beirut: Eyewitnesses and activists say at least two people have been shot to death during a funeral in central Syria.
It was not immediately clear who shot at the mourners in Homs. The funeral was for a protester who was killed during the wave of demonstrations sweeping the country.
Many of the mourners had been shouting slogans against the government.
An eyewitness says gunmen wearing black clothes opened fire at hundreds of people gathered Sunday in the Talbiseh district, killing at least two and wounding several others.
A human rights activist confirmed the two deaths, but both spoke on condition of anonymity for fear of reprisals.
