UAE airports haven`t stopped refuelling Iran planes: Officials

UAE airport authorities have said they have not stopped refuelling Iranian planes, refuting reports that the country had joined UK and Germany in refusing fuel to planes from Tehran in line with US` unilateral sanctions.

Dubai: UAE airport authorities have said
they have not stopped refuelling Iranian planes, refuting
reports that the country had joined UK and Germany in refusing
fuel to planes from Tehran in line with US` unilateral
sanctions.

Aviation officials in Dubai, Sharjah and Abu Dhabi
said that they continue to refuel Iranian passenger aeroplanes
at international terminals with jet fuel.
Earlier reports said the UAE has joined Britain and
Germany in refusing to offer fuel to Iranian passenger jets
flying through their airports.

Iranian news agencies IRNA and ISNA reported that the
action was the result of unilateral sanctions imposed by the
United States on Iran against its nuclear programme.

An official at Sharjah Civil Aviation Department said
that jet fuel service to Iranian planes is intact and has not
changed, UAE`s official news agency Wam said.

It was also reported that Kuwait has also declined to
offer fuel to Iranian passenger planes.

Other reports said that European oil companies Air BP
and Shell have stopped fuelling Iranian aircraft at UAE
airports in line with US trade sanctions on Iran, forcing them
to find alternative sources.

However, Emirates National Oil Company said it has not
received any notification from the UAE government on Iranian
sanctions that would hinder its business.
"Dubai Airports Authority confirms that Iranian
airlines operating in and out of Dubai International Airport
continue to be refuelled," an official from Dubai Airports was
quoted as saying.

Earlier, a spokesperson from Abu Dhabi Airports
Company (ADAC) said it too is continuing to supply Iranian
passenger planes with fuel.

"We have contracts with Iranian passenger flights and
continue to allow refuelling," he said.
