UK security overhaul after Murdoch pie attack

The speaker of Britain`s House of Commons says a pie attack on media mogul Rupert Murdoch could lead to permanent security changes.

London: The speaker of Britain`s House of
Commons says a pie attack on media mogul Rupert Murdoch at a
parliamentary committee hearing could lead to permanent
security changes.
An activist launched a shaving foam pie at Murdoch, 80,
inside the Houses of Parliament in July as Murdoch testified
about Britain`s tabloid phone hacking scandal.

Speaker John Bercow said today the incident had exposed
inadequate security arrangements.

Visitors in the future may face new restrictions during
high profile events, including restrictions on the type of
items they can bring into Parliament. Bercow said officials
will also consider creating a new post of director of
security.
Jonathan May-Bowles pleaded guilty to assaulting Murdoch
and was sentenced to six weeks in jail.
