Ukraine crisis: Rebels agree to ceasefire

After Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko declared a week-long ceasefire, pro-Russian rebels have also agreed to observe truce until Friday morning.

Kiev: After Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko declared a week-long ceasefire, pro-Russian rebels have also agreed to observe truce until Friday morning.

The crucial announcement was made by the leader of the `Donetsk People`s Republic`, Alexander Borodai, after attending high-level peace talks amidst ongoing clashes between the government forces and rebels, the BBC reported.
Apart from Borodai, the meeting were attended by close aide of Russian President Vladimir Putin Viktor Medvedchuk, Russian ambassador Mikhail Zurabov and OSCE officials among others, the report stated.
The meeting took place after the Ukrainian President declared ceasefire until June 27, a move which was welcomed by Putin.

He also announced a 15-point peace plan including early polls and create a buffer zone on the border separating Ukraine and Russia, according to BBC news report.
