Unresponsive private plane flies for over 1,700 miles, crashes off Jamaica

A private plane carrying a New York couple, both licensed pilots, has crashed into the sea off the coast of Jamaica, news reports stated on Saturday.

Kingston: A private plane carrying a New York couple, both licensed pilots, has crashed into the sea off the coast of Jamaica, news reports stated on Saturday.

The plane flew for over 1,700 miles down the Atlantic Coast and beyond with the pilot slumped over before it crashed, as per AP news report.

The US had sent two of its F-15 fighter jets after it failed to respond to the air traffic control.

The couple flying on board have been identified as Larry Glazer, a property developer from Rochester, New York, and his wife Jane.

Rescuers are trying to find the plane after an oil slick was found off the coast, indicating that the plane may have crashed.

However, no wreckage has been found so far.

The US jets followed the plane until Cuban air space after which the a Coast Guard C-130 followed the jet while coordinating with the authorities.
