Washington: US on Wednesday raised deep concerns
over a detained American geologist, who has been sentenced by
China for eight-year sentence on violating state secrecy laws,
and demanded his immediate deportation.
Chinese-born US citizen Xue Feng, detained since
November 2007 over the sale of a database on China`s oil
industry, was sentenced to eight-year imprisonment despite US
"We remain extremely concerned about his rights to due
process under Chinese law. We call on China to grant Dr. Xue
humanitarian release and immediately deport him back to the
United States," State Department spokesman Mark Toner told

priority. The US Government is deeply concerned for Dr. Xue`s
well-being," he said.
