Washington: US intelligence authorities sabotaged Al Qaeda`a online magazine `Inspire` temporarily last month when the text on the second page was garbled and the following 20 pages were blank.

As soon as the issue appeared in a distorted version, it was taken off the network and later a new version that included Boston Marathon Bombing as a reminder to America of its fear, was posted by the Islamist organization.

According to Washington Post, Inspire is a prominent magazine in English language circulated by Al Qaeda in the Arabian Peninsula containing first-person accounts of operations, exhortations to jihad and do-it-yourself advice for extremists .

The US intelligence considers the magazine a `threat` primarily because it has a specific readership and secondly it is user friendly with pictures and step-by-step diagrams.

According to the report, one of the suspects of April 15 Boston Marathon Bombing Dzhokhar Tsarnaev, and his late brother, Tamerlan Tsarnaev learned from the magazine how to make pressure cooker bombs which were used in the attacks.

Security officials said that it is another attempt by the US to disrupt Al Qaeda`s online propaganda by making it hard for them to distribute the magazine or messing with the content.

Former director of the National Counterterrorism Center, Michael E.Leiter, said that disrupting the radical voices in not the solution instead the authorities should help amplify more mainstream moderate Muslim voices, the report added.
