Washington: US envoy Robert King no longer plans to travel this week to North Korea, where he was to seek the release of US citizen Kenneth Bae, US officials who spoke on condition of anonymity said on Friday.

King, special envoy for North Korean human rights issues, had been scheduled to leave Japan on Friday to secure the release of Bae, an imprisoned and ailing American, in a step that could have signaled the start of a gradual thaw in relations between Washington and Pyongyang.
