US, Japan agree to strengthen bilateral relations

Representatives from the US and Japan met on Friday and agreed to strengthen bilateral relations over the next 50 years.

Tokyo: Representatives from the US and Japan met on Friday and agreed to strengthen bilateral relations over the next 50 years.
Democratic Party of Japan Secretary General Katsuya Okada, the next foreign minister in the Japan Cabinet, and US Ambassador to Japan John Roos met today ahead of the meeting between presumptive Prime Minister Yukio Hatoyama and US President Barack Obama later this month.
The two also agreed to make the meeting an occasion to showcase their leadership on global warming and nuclear disarmament.

"Although there are various issues about the Japan-US security alliance, what is important is that these relations continue and deepen for the next 30 to 50 years," Okada told a news conference after the meeting.
