An American health care worker from West Africa with potential exposure to Ebola arrived Thursday in the United States for hospital treatment.
The person, whose identity was not revealed due to patient privacy concerns, was admitted to Emory University Hospital "for testing and observation to see if an infection has been acquired," after arriving at 5:45 am (1045 GMT), the Atlanta, Georgia facility said.
Earlier this week, federal officials said that 35 hospitals across the United States including Emory have special facilities for patients being treated for possible and actual Ebola infection.
Emory was the first US hospital to treat an Ebola patient in the United States.
The Ebola outbreak ravaging West Africa has claimed 6,070 lives, according to the latest World Health Organization update, with the vast majority of deaths in Guinea, Liberia and Sierra Leone.
To date, 10 people have been treated for Ebola in the United States, of whom eight -- all Americans -- survived.
