Washington: The US has reportedly threatened to keep "critical intelligence" away from Germany if it offered asylum to Edward Snowden.

German Vice Chancellor Sigmar Gabriel confirmed that the US had told them that they would not notify Berlin of plots and other intelligence matters, which could prevent terror attacks, if they offered refuge to the NSA whistleblower, The Verge reported.

Gabriel added that the threat to withhold intelligence did not just apply to offering asylum to Snowden but also the US did not want Berlin to make any travel arrangements for Snowden.
