Vatican declares war on `secularisation`
The campaign is due to begin in February during the six-week Christian fasting period of Lent.
Vatican City: The Vatican has announced plans for a massive campaign beginning 2012 against "secularisation" in some of Europe`s biggest cities.
Archbishop Rino Fisichella, president of the Pontifical Council for Promoting the New Evangelisation, announced the "Metropolis Mission" re-evangelisation campaign.
The campaign is due to begin in February during the six-week Christian fasting period of Lent, reported Vatican Radio and L`Osservatore Romano newspaper.
"The goal is simple: to give a sign of unity among the diverse dioceses present in the largest European cities that have been particularly affected by secularisation," Fisichella said.
The campaign would kick off reportedly in Barcelona, Budapest, Brussels, Dublin, Cologne, Lisbon, Liverpool, Paris, Turin, Vienna and Warsaw.
The initiative will be based at each city`s cathedral, which will host a range of "ordinary pastoral care activities".
