New Delhi: The much-talked about viral video purportedly showing a young Syrian boy braving gunfire to rescue a girl was actually a 'staged' experiment, BBC Trending reported on Saturday.
The 'Syrian Hero Boy' video that has gone viral on YouTube and other social media platforms shows a boy 'faking death' when faced with a volley of bullets; he then gets up, dodges gunfire to drag a terrified young girl to safety.
BBC reported that a Norwegian film crew has accepted that the video that attracted international attention and gathered over 5 million views on YouTube was deliberately presented as reality to “spur debate”.
Norwegian film director Lars Klevberg, who is reportedly the brains behind the video, said that the clip was shot in Malta and the children featured are professional actors. It is presented as such to spur debate about children and war, he adds.
