West wasting money on anti-piracy ships: Kenya

Kenya`s minister urges West to help Somalia in becoming a functioning state.

New York: Kenya`s foreign minister accuses the US and other nations of neglecting Somalia and says the millions being spent to keep 52 warships in the Indian Ocean trying to stop pirate attacks should be spent instead on helping Somalia become a functioning state.
Moses Wetangula said in an interview on Saturday that the African Union has troops to expand its force in Somalia from 7,100 to 20,000 but it needs money and equipment to do it, and nobody is stepping up to help.
He warned that neglecting Somalia amid increasing attacks from militants trying to overthrow the weak UN-back transitional government could become a tragedy with worldwide repercussions.
