Washington: US Navy Yard gunman Aaron Alexis who went on a shooting spree killing 12 people in a naval base is said to have left some messages on his Remignton shotgun that he used in the massacre.

According to a law enforcement document obtained by the Associated Press, the cryptic message meant “Better off this way”. Another message encrypted on the shotgun was “My ELF weapon”.

Aaron Alexis, a 34 year old military contractor who was reportedly suffering from mental health problems, killed 12 people in a building in Washington Navy Yard on Monday morning.

Alexis had bought the gun from a shop in Virginia on Saturday just two days before he went on the rampage.

With Alexis shooting incident, questions galore are being raised on how he got a secret security clearance despite three arrests and misconducts in Navy.

As more reports emerged about the gunman, it was revelaed that he was hearing voices and suffering fom mental problems for which he was recieving treatments fron Veteran Affairs hospitals.

Alexis in August told Rhode Island police, that someone was using a "microwave machine" to send vibrations into his body to keep him awake.
