London: Secret-spilling group WikiLeaks is back online after it was hit by a cyber attack due to which its website was inaccessible for more than a week.
WikiLeaks said it was flooded with ten gigabits per second of bogus traffic from thousands of Internet addresses after it fell victim of a sustained denial-of-service attack.
According to the BBC, WikiLeaks said that a group calling itself Anti Leaks had said it was behind the attack.
Wikileaks Press, a WikiLeaks-endorsed website that publishes news about the organisation, noted that the attack had started shortly after e-mails were leaked about surveillance by software company Trapwire.
The firm collects data from CCTV cameras and number plate readers in a bid to forecast acts of terrorism.
According to the report, the e-mails were obtained after a hack of US-based intelligence company Stratfor.
