Woman with gun outside White House arrested after Obama's immigration speech

A 23-year-old woman was arrested by US Secret Service on Thursday night for carrying a gun shortly after President Barack Obama concluded his speech on immigration.

Washington: A 23-year-old woman was arrested by US Secret Service on Thursday night for carrying a gun shortly after President Barack Obama concluded his speech on immigration.

April Lenhart was taken into custody after she was seen walking along the north fence on Pennsylvania Avenue at around 8 pm.

She was carrying a 9mm handgun in a holster around her waist alongwith a male companion.

Lenhart, who faces charges of possessing unregistered firearm, is reportedly not cooperating while questioning.

The Secret Service has not arrested the man who was accompanying her.
