Yasser Arafat`s widow calls his death `political assassination`, demands justice

Geneva: Palestinian leader Yasser Arafat`s widow Suha Arafat on Thursday said that the death of her husband was a political assassination. Suha, when Yasser died on November 11, 2004 after falling ill in his Israeli-besieged compound, requested that autopsy not to be carried out due to which the doctors were unable to ascertain the cause of the death. The Swiss scientists who carried out a probe into the Palestinian leader`s death today submitted their report saying that Yasser was poisoned by the radioactive substance polonium-210. Suha, after receiving the examination report, the Palestinian leadership must seek justice for her husband. While not naming any country, Suha said that only countries with nuclear capabilities have access to polonium, pointing figures indirectly at Israel. Israel, which the Palestinians suspect have poisoned their leader, has always rejected widespread suspicions.
