Sanaa: Yemeni military officials on Sunday said 21 al Qaeda militants have been killed in a southern province where the Islamists took advantage of the country's political turmoil last year to seize entire cities.

Officials say 13 al Qaeda fighters were killed in clashes with troops outside the city of Jaar.

Officials say 13 al Qaeda fighters were killed in clashes with troops outside the city of Jaar.

Two other militants were killed in al-Code when troops shelled their car.

Also, the US Embassy in Yemen says Washington is providing another USD 6.5 million in aid to the impoverished Arab country, bringing the total of US humanitarian assistance to Yemen to USD 80 million this year.
