Team Anna cannot be alternative to BJP: Gadkari

New Delhi: Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) chief Nitin Gadkari on Friday welcomed Anna Hazare and his team's announcement to enter the political arena but stressed that it could not become an alternative to his party.

In an interview to a news channel, Gadkari said the BJP supports "anyone who's against corruption, be it Anna Hazare or Baba Ramdev. If Anna seeks our support, we will help".

He said Team Anna could not become an alternative to the BJP but the Congress could.

He also said his party did not face any threat from this new group.

To a question whether all was well with the National Democratic Alliance, which his party heads, especially with Janata Dal-United (JD-U) chief Nitish Kumar taking a different stand on various issues, Gadkari said NDA was "intact". He added that he was confident that Nitish Kumar would stay with the coalition.

Hazare and his team members Thursday announced they were calling off their indefinite fast on Friday at 5 pm and proposed forming a political alternative.

absolutely right.. Now Mr Gadkari and BJP you should know how the parties vote will be cut during election. Its obv that Mr Anna will cut your vote in 2014. Cong most corrupted but your party scaff is also not clean , remm the incident of bangaru laxman.. You want to remove courrpution from congress but not from your party... Anna is right, he wants something to do for people but parties like you and congress are throughing stones in his way. Now Tit for Tat see how he will cutting your votes in 2014 poll.

Anna’s announcement to jump into politics has come as a big shock to the BJP. It was BJP’s long time calculation that Anna would campaign with electorate in 2014 elections not to vote Congress and the BJP could capitalize that contingency. Its hopes have now been belied and also that anti-Congress votes would go mostly to Anna’s party. So BJP would be the big looser. By contrary Congress may gain from the new development since anti establishment votes would be divided and Congress can get benefited to that extent.

the patriotic people of india expected that bjp to support the anna hazare movement against corruption,but bjp proved otherwise and acted like congress and never supported lokpal bill whole heartedly,because it doesnot want to let the absolute power go away when it is elected but wanted to ride on the opurtunity.people are watching the enormous corruption of congress and nerveless bjp silently.mr gadkari donot take the commonman for granted

Team Anna has taken a right decesion about floating a political party. Perhaps in the history of independent India the present govt. is the most currupt one. In fact Dr Man Mohan Singh is a puppet dancing on the tune of a foreign lady.
