Chandigarh: The Professional Golf Tour of India (PGTI) has announced the Rs 25 lakh PGTI Players Championship which will get underway at the Chandigarh Golf Club from tomorrow.
The PGTI Players Championship will feature some of the top names of Indian professional golf such as the reigning Rolex Rankings champion Shamim Khan, Mukesh Kumar, Rashid Khan, Om Prakash Chouhan, Feroz Ali Mollah, Vijay Kumar and Gaurav Ghei, to name a few.
Leading the local challenge will be defending champion Harendra Gupta, Abhijit Singh Chadha, Harmeet Kahlon, Ranjit Singh and Gurbaaz Mann.
Padamjit Sandhu, Director, PGTI, said, "An exciting week of golf is in the offing for golf fans in Chandigarh as the PGTI Players Championship returns to the city.
"The presence of some of the top Indian professionals in the field as well as a strong contingent from the host city, make for a pulsating contest. Our partnership with the Chandigarh Golf Club will help grow the sport further in the city of Chandigarh."
Sandeep Sandhu, Captain, Chandigarh Golf Club, said, "With the top Indian golfers descending on the Chandigarh Golf Club we hope to see some exciting golf and a lot of sub-par scores. The greens are playing fast and the fairways soft, all this should help in low scoring."
The venue for the event, the Chandigarh Golf Club, has been the cradle of Indian professional golf, having produced many top-class players over the years. It is known for its tight fairways and thick rough.
The lush green fairways are bounded by groves of trees, which funnel out onto the green.
