Bangalore: The first twenty copies of star India batsman Yuvraj Singh`s memoir, `The Test of My Life`, will go up for bid online tomorrow.
In a fundraising activity, Collectabillia along with Random House is offering this opportunity for sports fans to own a personally autographed copy of Yuvraj`s memoir, long before it hits the stands. The memoir chronicles Yuvraj`s trials and tribulations as he successfully battled cancer following the euphoria of the 2011 World Cup win. In this exclusive offer, bids open at a base price of Rs. 5000 and the 20 highest bidders will each win a copy of the book, personally dedicated and autographed by Yuvraj. The limited edition books will also include a handwritten letter by Arjuna Awardee, Yuvraj, and all proceeds raised from the week-long auction will be donated to YouWeCan Foundation. "I have always believed in fighting hard, and not giving up and through this book, I hope to encourage the thousands of others, who are facing similar challenges, to not give up!," Yuvraj said. "I also want them to know they are not alone in their fight. All the money raised from this auction goes to YouWeCan, a small first step in meeting our aim of the foundation - which will start with the opening of more cancer detection centres, making them easily accessible to people, since early detection of the disease, is a battle half won." Speaking about the auction, Anjana Reddy, Managing Director Collectabillia, said: "For a whole generation of youngsters in the country, Yuvraj has embodied the `never say die` spirit on and off the field. I believe that his memoir is a priceless piece of work that stands for courage and the will to fight against all the odds." Caroline Newbury, VP Marketing and Publicity, Random House said, "The first 20 personalized books shall hold a lot more meaning through the auction, because in owning each of these personally autographed books is the knowledge that you have contributed to the journey of heroism by donating to the foundation."
