So, after the end of Day 2, Bangladesh are looking to come back into the game. The current partnership between Ashraful and Mominul is now worth 70. Sri Lanka declared their innings after scoring a mammoth 570/4. However, Ashraful has played a sensible knock so far compiling a responsible unbeaten fifty. They’ll need these two batsmen to stay in the middle for a quite a long time on the third day. ==================================================================================== Bangladesh Overs: 40 II Score: 121/2 ( Ashraful: 62*, Mominul: 24*) Spin in operation from Sri Lanka at the moment. At one end is Rangana Herath who has bowled 11 overs without any success. He has given 27 runs. From the other end, Tillakaratne has bowled four overs giving just seven runs. ==================================================================================== Bangladesh Overs: 30 II Score: 90/2 (Mominul: 5*, Ashraful: 50*) Bangladesh have lost their second wicket in Anamul Haque. He fell to Ajantha Mendis after being bowled. He scored 13 (68b, 4X1). Mominul Haque is the new batsman in the middle.However, Ashraful, is looking good and has completed his half-century. He even hit back-to-back boundaries off Mendis that showed how confidence he is feeling. ==================================================================================== Bangladesh Overs: 20 II Score: 57/1 (Haque: 13*, Ashraful: 22*) Bangladesh have safely crossed 50-run mark without losing another wicket. Ashraful has so far hit two boundaries while Haque has one to his name. They are still trailing by 513 runs with nine wickets in hand. Ashraful has five centuries to his name the last of which came way back in 2008 against Sri Lanka. ==================================================================================== Bangladesh Overs: 9 II Score: 23/1 (Haque: 3*, Ashraful: 0*) TEA Bangladesh have lost the wicket of their opening batsman Jahurul Islam. Shaminda Eranga dropped one short and Islam ended up getting caught by wicketkeeper Chandimal after kissing his gloves. He scored 20 (32b, 4X4). Mohammad Ashraful came in at No. 3. ==================================================================================== Sri Lanka Overs: 135 II Score: 570/4 (Thirimanne: 155*, Chandimal: 116*) DECLARED! Sri Lanka have declared their innings at 570/4 with Thirimanne and Chandimal returning undefeated. Thirimanne remained unbeaten on 155 while Chandimal celebrated his maiden Test ton. The fifth-wicket stand between the two saw the home team adding 203 runs that took them to a mammoth total. Bangladesh were pathetic on filed dropping simple catches. Sohag Gazi took 3/164 while Hasan took one wicket. ==================================================================================== Sri Lanka Overs: 125 II Score: 512/4 (Thirimanne: 135*, Chandimal: 85*) Sri Lankan batsmen have made their intentions clear in this second session of play of the second day. They have collected 51 runs in seven overs post lunch guiding the score past 500-run mark. The first over after lunch fetched them three runs while off the next, they scored 10 runs including a six coming from the bat of Chandimal. Off the next 11 runs came including a boundary, two couples and a triple. Barring 119th and 122nd over, they have managed a boundary or a six in each over. ==================================================================================== Sri Lanka Overs: 118 II Score: 461/4 (Thirimanne: 113*, Chandimal: 55*) LUNCH 30 overs have been bowled in this session and Sri Lanka have scored 100 runs in it. Bangladesh, thanks to their fielding had to content with the wicket of Angelo Mathews. They dropped two catches during the session. Thirimanne slammed a century while Chandimal has completed his fifty. ==================================================================================== Sri Lanka Overs: 110 II Score: 422/4 ( Thirimanne: 98*, Chandimal: 31*) Bangladeshi fielders have fluffed yet another catch that would have sent Chandimal on the way to pavilion. Shahadat Hossain dropped one short and Chadimal went for the hook. The ball went to fine leg and Abul Hasan dropped a sitter. Off the bowling of Sohag, the visitors missed yet another chance to remove Chandimal in the 105th over when Jahurul Islam dropped his catch at midwicket. Chandimal then went on to hit two boundaries in the over. ==================================================================================== Sri Lanka Overs: 100 II Score: 383/4 ( Thirimanne: 86*, Chandimal: 6*) Bangladesh missed a chance to dismiss Dinesh Chandimal when the fielder at gully dropped a low catch to his left but failed to hold on to it. A difficult chance though. Chandimal, who came in after the dismissal of Mathews, opened his account off the first delivery with a boundary that came off an edge. 13 runs have been scored in the past 10 overs by the Lankan team. ==================================================================================== Sri Lanka Overs: 89.4 II Score: 367/4 ( Thirimanne: 78*, Chandimal: 0*) Bangladesh have started well and picked the wicket of Sri Lankan captain Agelo Mathews! He got a leading edge off Abut Hasan as he looked to play one to his legside but ended up being caught by the bowler. He scored 27 (60b, 4X4). Dinesh Chandimal is the new batsman in the middle. ==================================================================================== Sri Lanka Overs: 85.3 II Score: 361/3 Sri Lanka were on top on the opening day of the first Test at Galle against Bangladesh before rain cut short the proceedings. Kumar Sangakkara struck a century in his first Test after returning from injury. The hosts dominated the first day’s play with Tillakaratne Dilshan scoring a brisk fifty before being dismissed by Sohag Gazi while Lahiru Thirimanne was unbeaten on 74. Bangladesh though managed to take the wicket of centurion Sanga. Gazi took all the three wickets that fell on Firday.
