Lankan cricketers Dolawatte, Seneviratne retire

Sri Lanka`s women cricketers Sandamali Dolawatte and Chamani Seneviratne have retired with immediate effect, Sri Lanka Cricket (SLC) announced Friday.

Colombo: Sri Lanka`s women cricketers Sandamali Dolawatte and Chamani Seneviratne have retired with immediate effect, Sri Lanka Cricket (SLC) announced Friday.
"SLC wishes to announce that the two national women’s team players, Sandamali Dolawatte and Chamani Seneviratne, tendered their resignation to chief executive officer (CEO) Ashley De Silva Dec 29," said an SLC release. "SLC wishes to state that Dec 29 morning Sandamali was informed to attend a final selection trial match scheduled Dec 30. Sandamali refused to abide by the request and informed of her desire to resign from the team. Chamani was already selected for the One-Day International (ODI) squad. Subsequently, she tendered her resignation to the CEO of SLC." Legbreak bowler Sandamali, 30, played 53 ODIs and 24 Twenty20 Internationals while 35-year-old Chamani played one Test, 80 ODIs and 32 T20Is for Sri Lanka.
